The Origin
In Japanese folklore, Baku is a mythical spirit — a guardian creature that visits in the night to protect sleep, consume nightmares, and transform what ails you into strength. We built an app around that idea.
Baku the spirit watches over sleep and recovery — which is exactly what our analytics engine does. One mission: help people understand and optimize their biology.
Why We Built This
Most wearable apps are dashboards. They show you numbers without telling you what those numbers mean for your body, on this day, given your history.
As a researcher, this gap was frustrating. The science for personalized health analytics exists. The data from modern wearables is rich enough to support it. What was missing was an app that actually put the two together — rigorously, transparently, without burying the insights under gamification or generic advice.
